Hajar Abdelkader: Wild card doubles doubles player served 20 times, lost in 37 minutes

The Egyptian Tennis Federation confirmed to the BBC that Abdelkader has never been registered as an Egyptian player and has not played for Egypt.

Dia Nabil Loutfy, technical director of the Egyptian Tennis Federation, said: “We would like to clarify that she is not registered with the Egyptian Tennis Federation and does not appear in any of our official player lists.

“According to the information we have, the player was previously residing in Kenya and participated in the ITF Championship in Nairobi through a wild card granted by the Tennis Federation of Kenya.

“The Egyptian Tennis Federation has no role, directly or indirectly, in the nomination, approval or issuance of this wild card, nor are we involved in any capacity with the players participating in the tournament.”

The organization said it had no records linking Abdelkader and said she had never been affiliated with the Egyptian Tennis Federation.
