Electronics manufacturer Plaud launched a new AI pen called Plaude NotePin S, along with a desktop app that helps you take notes during digital meetings, ahead of the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.
The company first launched its pen called pin in 2024, which my old friend Brian Heater loved it. The new pin brings a physical button that lets you start and stop recording. In addition, during recording, you can press a button to highlight a specific point – just like you would The newly released Plaud Note Pro.
One good thing about the $179 Plaud NotePin S is that you get a clip, a lanyard, a magnetic pin, and a whip in the box. This means that you can wear the device however you want. The company is also adding Apple Find pin support, so you can easily look for the device if you can’t find it.
The core specifications of the device remain the same as the previous generation. There is 64GB of storage on board with a battery life of 20 hours of continuous recording. The device has two MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems) mics that can capture clear sound within 9.8 feet range. Users will get 300 minutes of texting per month for free as well
Compared to the Note Pro, this device has a shorter recording range and lower battery life. But it is small in size to carry using any of the above mentioned devices. The company said the pin is suitable for people who travel regularly.

This is Plaud’s fourth device, and the company has sold over 1.5 million devices to date. With these tools, the focus has been on personal meetings. However, Plaud also wants to take on document editors like Granola, Fathom, and Fireflies with a new desktop client that works across all platforms. The company said the app can detect when a meeting is taking place and prompt you to record the recording.
The Mac app takes notes using audio to record the meeting, then processes the notes into text using AI. The company pioneered multimodal input for note-taking with its software that allows users to add images and text along with audio last year. Plaud is also bringing this to its desktop app.
