“4 years ago I went through a very dark time and my personal lowest point. Crazy to say, but it ended up being the greatest gift and biggest turning point in my life,” she wrote on Instagram.
Hale continued, “The road has not always been easy. There has been pain, discomfort, loneliness, and deep self-confrontation. But sobriety has given me a new lease of life. I am deeply grateful for every moment that has led me to this point.”
The actress ended her post with a message of hope for others grappling with similar issues.
“If you’re struggling, know this: There’s always an opportunity to start over. Keep moving forward. Keep speaking your truth. Get help. Remember, this is worth a life you’re proud of. Your presence matters and the story you carry matters. It does get better ❤️,” she wrote.
“I realized that darkness isn’t always scary. It’s often the very thing that leads us to the light.”

She added that lasting change was only possible when she decided to get sober for herself rather than external reasons.
“I tried to change for my boyfriend. I tried to change for my mom. I tried to change for my career. I tried to change for futile causes. “I would quit drinking for this. “None of that worked. I had to and wanted to stay awake,” Hale said. “Because I said, ‘I deserve more. I deserve more from this life. I have to try it differently. And I have to be willing to commit to it.'”
