Ukrainian officials said a Russian attack on Kharkiv killed two people, including a three-year-old child, and injured about 28 others.
A multi-storey residential apartment building was almost completely destroyed in twin missile attacks on Friday afternoon, an attack that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called “heinous”.
The Russian Defense Ministry denied reports of an attack, saying the explosion was caused by the detonation of Ukrainian munitions.
The attack came ahead of intense talks on a U.S.-brokered peace plan in Kiev on Saturday.

The ministry also claimed the reports were an attempt to divert attention from a New Year’s Eve attack on a hotel in a Russian-controlled area of ​​Ukraine’s southern Kherson region.
