The lawsuit was filed in Los Angeles court on Tuesday, December 30, and filed by US Weekly The indictment, filed Thursday, Jan. 1, names Smith and Trey Bauer Studio Management as defendants.

The violinist’s employment was terminated days after the incident, with Joseph claiming management told him they were “going in a different direction.” He claims he was quickly replaced by another violinist in the same position and disputes this claim.
The lawsuit also alleges that Joseph suffered post-traumatic stress disorder and financial losses as a result of being fired. He is suing for retaliation, wrongful termination and sexual harassment and is asking a jury to determine damages.
According to legal documents, Joseph further claimed that Smith had been “guiding and directing” him toward “further sexual exploitation” since they first met in November 2024. He claimed that after meeting and before the tour started, they “started spending more time alone”.
