influencer Melissa May Carlton For years, she has been pulling back the curtain on her life with her four children online.

Even today as parents, we are still waiting for the promises that come from making and keeping covenants. We will all fall short, and many things may seem unfair. There is no family that has not experienced disappointment, tragedy, and hardship—but the promises of the Lord are eternal.”
Melissa and her husband, Tom Carltonare the parents of four children. One of their eldest daughters, Abigail, died unexpectedly in April 2024 at the age of 9. her sister Molly died the following year from unknown health complications.

“Tom and I have known each other our entire lives and he was my first real crush,” Melissa via Instagram March 2024. “Our parents were good friends and we had a tradition that every New Year’s Day his family would come over for dinner. I remember nervously waiting and checking to see if the bright yellow camper was parked in our driveway. Then, once he got here, I would just ignore him.”
Melissa and Tom first dated when she was 16, just months before Tom began serving a Mormon mission in Scotland. They reconnected after Tom’s return, shortly before their wedding. They celebrated their 14th wedding anniversary in November 2025.

“We fell in love instantly from the moment she was born. I remember those first days and weeks staring at her all day long,” the influencer said via Instagram February 2025. “Every morning feels like Christmas morning – over and over again. “It’s funny how her personality was so evident as a baby – bubbly, hilarious, sassy, dramatic. “

According to Melissa, Lily and Abby were “inseparable” when they were born. Abi passed away in April 2024, when she was 9 years old.
“We are going through the worst pain of our lives yet at the same time feel a deep sense of peace,” the married couple wrote in a caption. Melissa and Tom’s son Harry was baptized in the Church of Latter-day Saints in November 2025.
“He’s been counting down to this day for years – and it’s literally everything he’s ever hoped for,” Melissa via Instagram then. “I am grateful to the missionaries who spent time with him, taught him, and set a great example as he prepared for baptism. Their influence was profound.”

Melissa and Tom’s youngest daughter, Molly, died on Christmas morning, December 2025.
“We don’t have an official diagnosis yet,” Melissa wrote on Instagram a few days later. “Doctors think Molly has hereditary heart disease And suspect that this may be the case for Abi as well. …We are told that in this case, even a mild illness can trigger a sudden cardiac event. “
