Türkiye says it lost contact with Libyan army chief’s plane


Türkiye said a plane carrying the Libyan army chief and four others lost its signal.

Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya posted on X that the incident occurred at 20:52 local time (17:52 GMT), approximately 42 minutes after the Falcon 50 business jet took off from Ankara Airport.

The minister said Libya’s chief of general staff, General Mohammed Ali Ahmed Haddad, was on the plane to Tripoli.

The plane issued an emergency landing request before contact was lost.
