“I mean, I was definitely nervous,” Blue, 26, told EXCLUSIVELY us weekly Her state of mind before being detained. “In previous years I wanted to go to Bali, but I knew how strict Bali was, so I avoided it and went to Fiji. This year, I went with more information. I had chosen a lawyer in case something went wrong. So I was aware of my risk, but I was happy to take the risk.”
Earlier this month it was revealed that Blue, 26, Arrested in Bali, She was there for “Schoolies” – an event for Australian high school graduates to celebrate the end of the school year. Blue explained that she started Schoolies on November 28th and planned to end it on December 5th. She was arrested a day earlier.
“Honestly, it all ended perfectly. If this was the first day of graduation, I would be like, ‘Well, this is so frustrating. I came here for a purpose and now graduation is coming up and I’m in jail,'” Blue said. “But the timing was perfect.”
Despite being “concerned” about her footage being deleted, Blue said she “knew” to back up “a lot of it” and “had it sent out and deleted from my hard drive and laptop.”
“Some of the stuff from that day and the 24 hours before that I don’t remember if it was backed up,” she said. “So I was thinking, ‘Gosh, it would be really frustrating if I didn’t get sent to jail and come out and not have this content.'” No content was removed, though. So that’s an added bonus. “
Blue claims she was contacted before traveling to Bali and offered to arrange for a lawyer, provide her with an Airbnb and “contact people if anything did go wrong”. Blue ended up paying about $100,000 for the alleged services, but realized when she arrived in Bali that the man claimed to have connections with people she had no relationship with.
“I thought, ‘Well, hats off to her because she just took £75,000 from me,'” Blue recalled. “I mean, from the day I landed, she reported to the police and told them where I was and what I was doing, and I think that made it easier for the police to investigate because he always knew where I was before I got there.”
Blue speculated that the man was plotting against her “for money and trying to gain connections.”
Blue claimed that around 40 police officers “completely collapsed and destroyed the villa” during the raid. She also claimed some people spoke to friends over video about the attack and “put cameras in her face”.
“Obviously, one of the things that people talk about a lot is respect, saying I don’t respect a country that has very high morals,” Blue shared. “I thought, if that was the case, I wouldn’t have the police shoving a camera in my face or my friends and family on FaceTime and just saying they arrested me and saying they were going to charge me.”
Blue claimed she was instructed to take off her pants because it was “for porn,” but she said “that’s not the case.” She claimed they were “just trying to humiliate (her) in any way possible”.
“It’s scary because I asked for a lawyer and they ignored me. They pretended they didn’t speak English,” she claimed.
Hours after police examined the alleged evidence, Blue said it was “somewhat gratifying” that she went to the police station and met with her attorney. Although the lawyer didn’t speak “a lot of English,” he assured Blue that “it would be no problem.”
“He said, ‘Don’t worry, you’ll be out in an hour.’ That hour ended up being a very long week,” Blue said. “So, yeah, it was definitely scary at times, but more frustrating than anything because they were being really stupid and trying to explain some of my rage-bait stuff to them.”
Blue explained that she was “interrogated for the first 30 hours” and “was not allowed to leave the police station.”
“I was interrogated,” she said. “I wasn’t allowed much sleep, no food, no water, no toilet paper in the toilets. There was no hygiene problem there at all.”
Blue said she was released about 30 to 35 hours later and taken to immigration, which took her passport. “They didn’t detain me because there were about 20 of us in total. They didn’t have enough space to detain 20 people, so we were allowed to leave, but I had no phone, no money and, obviously, no passport,” she claimed. “I wasn’t allowed to go back to my villa because it was a crime scene. We were in the middle of Bali and we were like, ‘What do we do? Like, where do we go?'”
Blue explained that the family of one of her “school” participants “put[them]up in their hotel.”
“We ordered room service and took a shower, which was great and nice to feel fresh and clean again, but I still had no clothes, like no clean underwear,” she said. “The next day we had to go back to the police station for more questioning, but after the first 30 hours I was able to check into a hotel. So I didn’t go to jail.”
After his arrest, photos of a blue smile and what appeared to be an overall positive demeanor circulated online. Looking back on that time, Blue explained that she would not “cry” even if she went to jail.
“If I’m going to jail, crying usually won’t do anything,” she said. “I can’t stand it when people do crocodile tears. So, yeah, sucking a lollipop and wearing a cute two-piece is the best thing I can do.”
Blue was fined $12 for violating road regulations while driving a “Bangbus” and received a six-month ban from Indonesia, after which she claimed she had to return for questioning. She was then able to board the flight and return her passport.
“It’s so scary because it’s like, okay, you’ve shown the media and the world that you just released me. But the reality is, I’m sitting in my office and I’m not allowed to go to the bathroom, not allowed to drink water unless you say so,” she claimed. “We didn’t feel safe until we got on that plane and it took off.”
Blue claimed that “a lot of creators” reached out, some of whom were “confused if this was a gimmick.” The creators realized this was true when Blue didn’t respond to their messages for a few days. “A lot of support, a lot of love,” she said. “Obviously, the hate as always, but you’re always going to have situations like that.”
Blue said that despite being banned from entering Indonesia for six months, she plans to return to Indonesia in 2026 for another Schoolies event. “I’ll be back in time for school to start next year,” she said. “So for me, it couldn’t have worked out better.”
