A recently engaged Wisconsin woman will spend the next six years in prison after she allegedly admitted to kissing an 11-year-old boy in a classroom and subsequently sending him 35,000 explicit text messages.
Madison BergmanThe 26-year-old victim was a fifth-grade teacher at River Crest Elementary School in Hudson, Wisconsin, until the victim’s father discovered the trove of text messages.
During Bergman’s sentencing on Friday, December 19, the boy’s father told the court that he found the messages “disturbing.”
The messages were sent just three months ago, meaning she was sending an average of more than 2,000 messages to her victims every day. Bergman allegedly expressed her affection for the boy in text messages and expressed her desire to touch him and “make out” with him again.

Bergman pleaded guilty back in September to one count of child luring and two counts of sexual misconduct by a school staff.
After her father handed the text messages to police, officers searched her classroom and found a folder with the victim’s name and handwritten love letters inside, indicating they had kissed.
Bergman was scheduled to get married in 2024. It’s unclear when she got engaged.

As she entered the courtroom for sentencing, she began to cry. The state had been seeking a 12-year sentence for the disgraced teacher.
Bergman’s lawyers had been seeking a one-year prison sentence.
“I want to make it clear that I take full responsibility for every action that crosses a line,” she said through tears. “I hope your family can begin to heal and find peace in their lives again. I know this journey will be a long one for your family.”

Bergman pleaded guilty in a plea deal with prosecutors that dropped multiple charges against her, including first-degree sexual assault of a child, use of a computer to facilitate a child sex crime, exposing a child to harmful depictions, and other counts of sexual misconduct by a school employee and luring a child.
When he is released from prison six years later, Bergman will be required to register as a convicted sex offender. She will also be subject to six years of long-term supervision, with no unauthorized contact with minors. The court also restricted her internet use, According to KARE11.
