Neighborhood Watch (2025)
Simon McNally (Jack Quaid) is a young man suffering from paranoid schizophrenia who is haunted by visions of his dead, abusive father. When he thinks he sees a young woman kidnapped and taken away in an out-of-state van, no one believes him due to his condition – except for retired security guard Ed Deerman (Jeffrey Dean Morgan). Ed thinks Simon saw something he shouldn’t have seen, but how can they convince everyone they’re right? Even if they succeed, they still have to find out who kidnapped the young woman and whether she is still alive.

It takes its time developing its two protagonists while weaving a compelling mystery that feels like it was ripped from the headlines. Quaid and Morgan are great as two lonely men who have been abandoned by the entire world but find strength in their partnership. Together they can’t do anything, but they can do enough to solve a mystery and save someone’s life.

“Love Is Strange” (2014)
After nearly 40 years together, long-term partner Ben (John Lithgow) and George (Alfred Molina) decided to officially get married. However, while their wedding was supposed to bring them closer, married life actually brought them further apart, as George was fired from his job at a Catholic school and they lost their expensive New York apartment, forcing them to live apart from their friends and family. They’re still married, but can Ben and George still love each other even if they can’t live together?
love is strange It’s a bittersweet comedy about the lives and loves of two baby boomers who hope to live a comfortable and stable life in their later years, but end up with the exact opposite. This is a question that most people will have in 2025, but the beauty of it is love is strange It’s just how specific it feels and yet completely relatable at the same time. As a couple, Lithgow and Molina are an odd pairing – you wouldn’t expect the two of them to be together, but by the end, you can’t imagine them with anyone else.
