A high school baseball player has died after suffering a head injury during practice. He is 15 years old.
Bentley Wolfe On March 2, during the team’s first training of the season, he was hit by a baseball, causing severe brain hemorrhage and leaving the young athlete fighting for his life. Prairie Press.
Two days later, on March 6, Wolfe’s mother, Samata Simpsonrevealed that he passed away.
“I never thought I’d say this,” Simpson posted. Via Facebook. “Bentley Carney Wolfe has entered heaven and I know many people are waiting for him with open arms.”
She continued, “We are in the donation process right now in the hope that he will save others from going through something so tragic in their lives. Never forget my baby, he will never be forgotten, he is an angel on earth and God needs him back 💚 Thank you all for the love, donations, The food of our family and friends, the support of all the multiple communities is keeping us up right now. The world would be a better place if everyone loved and saw it as much as Bentley does, so make it your goal 💚💚💚💚💚💚💚
Later on March 6, Wolfe’s school, Chrisman High School, Hold a prayer vigil Hundreds of friends and classmates attended the event to honor the sophomore.

Samantha Simpson/Facebook“The outpouring of love from multiple towns, my friends, my family, people I haven’t spoken to in a while, complete strangers has been overwhelming to say the least,” Simpson said on Facebook. “But knowing that my son was so loved brought so much joy to this broken heart.”
The Peoria County Coroner’s Office confirmed Wolfe’s death in a statement, adding that Wolfe was a “very heroic organ donor.”
“An autopsy on Bentley revealed that he suffered severe head trauma as a result of blunt force trauma,” the statement said in part. “Sincere condolences to his family, the students and staff of Chrisman High School.”
The statement continued, “Despite aggressive care and treatment, sadly, Bentley was pronounced brain dead at 5:49 p.m. on March 6, 2026. It is with great respect and gratitude that Bentley was a very heroic organ donor.”
according to his obituaryWolfe is survived by his parents and seven siblings, as well as grandparents and even great-grandparents.
In addition to playing baseball, he competes on the basketball team and is active in the school’s Future Farmers of America (FFA) program. He loved tractors, trucks and “anything to do with agriculture.”
“Thank you everyone for supporting Bentley,” Simpson said at the vigil. “Love and support really helps us all. Please love like Bentley. Because if everyone could do that, the world would be a better place.”
